Pre-Holiday Organizational Tips

Pre-Holiday Organizational Tips

It's beginning to look a lot like… one of the most stressful times of the year.

Who doesn't love Christmas? It's a time of good tidings and joy, but with those come a whole lot of clutter! That's the reason why so many people make their New Year's Resolution: "Get organized."

But here is the problem; by the time the new year comes, it's already too late. Your already disorganized home is now literally overstuffed with new decorations, presents, clothes, and everything else that comes with the winter holidays. By January 1st, the vast majority of homes in the United States are beyond bursting!

Thankfully, there is a way to avoid that while also making the holidays way, way more enjoyable for you. If you miss what Christmas used to be (togetherness, family, and vacation) and hate what it's become (panic, stress, and work), take a look at some of these holiday organizational tips!

Pre-Holiday Decluttering

Christmas isn't exactly known as the kind of holiday when you throw things out. In fact, with dozens of presents under the tree, it's the holiday when a massive influx of new stuff is coming in.

Thankfully, this gives you an opportunity! Rather than shove all of the new things in the closet until you have time to sort through it all, you can pre-organize your home and make room first. How? With pre-holiday decluttering!

Pre-holiday decluttering is a fantastic way to prevent overbuying by taking an inventory of everything you already own. With it, you can create a little bit of breathing room, leaving you with a cushion for the holiday rush.

We offer several holiday decluttering packages that can remove all of the stress and panic that comes with the decluttering process. These services include holiday package services, gift wrap station organization, toy decluttering, décor decluttering, and much more.

Our services start at a 2-hour decluttering session for only $130. If you feel that we'll need a little more time to tackle everything, you can get 4 hours for $260. And if you want the full holiday decluttering experience, you can book six hours for $400!

If you have an emergency pre-holiday clutter situation in your home, we can add another person to the mix for only $130 more. That's a professional two-person, 6-hour decluttering session for only $530!

Food Prep

If you're always the one who hosts the Christmas dinner, you could decide to opt-out this year. Often, it's one person in the family who gets saddled with making the turkey, stuffing, potatoes, sides, and everything else. If you're lucky, one of the guests will bring a store-bought pie.

Here is the thing: making dinner for your entire extended family isn't your responsibility. You're doing it because you care about them! If this upcoming holiday season looks like it's going to be a stressful one, there's absolutely nothing wrong with telling them that you can't do it this year. Let someone else host and YOU bring the pie for once!

If no one else in your family wants to shoulder the responsibility (because they've always relied on you to do so), then book a reservation at a restaurant ASAP. Yes, it might feel strange, but you'll be wishing you took that option when you're panicking because it's 6 PM on Christmas Day and the turkey isn't finished yet.

If you're moving ahead with Christmas dinner and want to clear out some room in your pantry beforehand, I'd be happy to help! It's all part of our pre-holiday decluttering package!

Order Online

One of the most stressful parts of Christmas is shopping. It isn't just that you have a massive list of family, friends, and coworkers to purchase presents for; it's also that you need to brave the crowds. The malls are going to be packed every single weekend from now until Christmas. And if you don't like navigating through large groups of people to find the presents you want, that's going to put you on edge like nothing else.

There is a solution, and that's to shop online. I'm not necessarily talking about Amazon here (although that's an option). Countless smaller retailers have online stores nowadays. Whatever you want, you can find it online.

So, if you have a list of items that you need to buy, don't brave the stores. Instead, hit up online. It might cost you a little more if the online retailer doesn't include free shipping, but that is going to be money well spent when you consider the gas, time, and effort you will save.

Oh, and if you want to save even more time, consider using an online retailer that will wrap your gifts for you (usually for an extra fee). This is optional, as it can be a little expensive. But if you don't have any time to spare over the holidays, it's a viable option to save yourself a few hours of messing around with wrapping paper and tape.

Alternatively, you could also include gift wrapping station organizing in your pre-holiday decluttering package. This will make sure that you have everything ready to wrap your presents long before the holiday rush hits in full.

What About Post-Holidays

Even if you do take advantage of our pre-holiday decluttering services, you're still going to have quite a bit of clutter after Christmas. That's just the nature of the holiday.

While you can book our post-holiday organizing services separately, we highly recommend you take advantage of our Double Holiday services. You get the full pre-holiday declutter AND post-holiday decluttering for $700. The time, stress, and panic that you will save are worth much more than that, believe me!

I'm going to level with you; no matter how much decluttering you do, the holidays are always going to be stressful. That's just the reality of being an adult at Christmas time. But if you want to recapture a little bit of that holiday magic you remember from when you were a kid, then decluttering before Christmas can be the perfect way to do it. Contact me today to get set up with pre-holiday decluttering! We'll get all of the extra stuff out of your way so you can enjoy your Christmas in relative peace and joy!
